Illifino ( ill-if-eye-know ) n. 1. A power trio consisting of guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. Having many direct roots to form one solid sonic creation. A synergistic movement birthed of fragmented ideas, thoughts, and vibrations. A stylistic mash up of alt/surf/punk/ and rock and roll. 2. the inherent product of a very sick elephant, and a very sick rhino. adj. 3. statement exclaiming unidentifiable familiarity, coupled with heartfelt originality. Illifino is a Maui based project dedicated to revitalize, and revive, originality is song writing. They are driven by a love for the human element, that seems so lost in musical production today. This energetic movement combines many of the essential inspirational qualities that brought original rock and roll to the forefront so many years ago. Unified by a love for the PIXIES, Darrin Jackson (guitar), and Benjamin Baker (bass, vocals), chose to put forward a sound that created that nostalgic feeling, laid out by so many genres in their beginning stages. Through many chaotic ups, and downs, illifino has and will always remain in control of creative aspects, and keep integrity within the writing structure. Their first album was recorded in four and a half hours, primarily one take, one shot cuts. Raymond Viva supplied the drums on each track, before having to bow out, citing other priorities demanded his attention. Enter Steve Wheeler, and old cohort from years back, Steve jumped right in, in time to play shows and begin the writing for their second album. With the second almost completely written, They plan to go back into the studio, early 2007. The duplication was facilitated by the good people at Groove House Records ( thanks Bryan Kelly, Sohrab Habibion, and the rest of the crew ). Illifino would also like to thank The Beat Miner for his wonderfully raw production, and the enthusiasm imparted into the project. Much Love, Keep it Raw, Keep it Real.
